HUMAN TEETH NUMBERING CHARTS
The following charts show how human teeth are numbered in the United States by
general dentists and established practices like Western Dental. (Please note that countries outside of the United States as well
as Orthodontists may use different systems in which they divide the teeth into the
four quadrants and start at the front and number 1-8 to represent the eight teeth
in each arch. Each quadrant would have a number and then the tooth number after it.
In addition, some orthodontists will draw an "L" shaped angle around the
number and point the "arms" of the "L" in the direction of the
quadrant. For example an L with the number 3 written in it would be the upper left
canine - also known as number "11" using the more commonly used system
below.)
