COSMETIC SURGERY


Periodontal cosmetic surgery is available to change the position of your gum tissue around your teeth. In some cases, it may be necessary to raise, lower or reshape it to improve the appearance of your smile. This procedure is frequently done prior to having your general dentist place new crowns or porcelain veneers, thus making the teeth look normal in size and shape. In cases where the root(s) of the teeth have become exposed making the teeth look very long, it is now possible with connective tissue grafts to completely cover the exposed roots obtaining total tissue regeneration to it's orignial level! Therefore, an asymetrical smile can be corrected by soft tissue grafts. Here are some photos to show an example of what is available with these type of procedures.

DENTAL IMPLANTS (TOOTH REPLACEMENT)


If you are missing one or more teeth and would like to restore your ability to smile, speak, or eat with comfort and confidence, then dental implants may be right for you. Implants are no longer considered experimental. Dental implants are made from medically pure titanium and are substitutes for natural tooth roots. After a moderate healing period, crowns and/or bridges are attached directly to the implants. Implants feel and function like the natural teeth. Implants are also used as an alternative to dentures. Dr. Poulos was one of the first dental surgeons in Santa Clara County to receive advanced training in implants and provide this service to patients. Due to differences in bone quality and quantity, the success rate for implants ranges between 93% for the upper jaw and 98% on the lower jaw. Dr. Poulos has successfully completed hundreds of implant cases and will coordintate your implant treatment with your general dentist or prosthodontist.
